Luanne Jacobs of Norwell says she called Mass Highway Wednesday to tell them about the covers sitting precariously on the road. Another woman tells us she was traveling the same route Thursday and saw six cars pulled over after encountering similar problems.
State police confirm they were on the scene Wednesday and Thursday with construction crews to secure loose covers.
The driver is identified as 39-year-old Pawel Swierczynski of Easton. He was taken by Medflight a Boston hospital.
The accident caused massive back-ups during the morning rush hour.
