Sandwich (AP) -- A man has suffered serious injuries after his Sandwich home was destroyed by a fire.
Investigators said firefighters were called to the wood-framed house Thursday morning around 4 a.m. and found the house was engulfed in flames.
Sandwich fire Capt. Timothy McMahon said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but investigators are "looking at" the water heater.
Cathy Kuzava told the Cape Cod Times Thursday that her brother Joseph Kuzava suffered second-degree burns to his upper torso and was flown by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
She said her brother was put on a respirator because of the heavy medication doctors administered but he is expected to survive.
