Boston (AP) -- The U.S. Senate has approved sending $44.4 million to Massachusetts to upgrade military facilities at Otis Air Force Base and Hanscom Air Force Base.
Sens. John Kerry and Paul Kirk say President Barack Obama's administration also included $24 million for a spinal cord injury center for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Brockton.
Hanscom Air Force Base Armed Forces Reserve Center will receive $29 million to upgrade its facilities.
Another $12.8 million has been set aside for Otis Air Force Base Composite Operations and Training Facility.
A separate $2.6 million will go to Hanscom Air Force Base Joint Force Headquarters.
The funding came as the Senate passed, by a rare 100-0 vote, a $134 billion spending bill for veterans programs and military construction projects on Tuesday.
