Kingston (AP) -- As people and communities across Massachusetts honored the sacrifice and commitment of the nation's military personnel on Veterans Day, vandals in one town were doing the opposite.
Kingston police say the town's granite memorial honoring veterans from the town who died in foreign wars was knocked over on Wednesday morning.
Police believe given the size and weight of the roughly six-foot by two-foot memorial, several people were involved.
Vandals also toppled 91 headstones in the nearby Evergreen Cemetery, but it does not appear any one religion was targeted.
Detective Sgt. Robert Wells called the timing of the vandalism "devastating."
