Boston (WBZ Newsroom) -- A water main break on Columbus Ave in the South End closes six blocks to traffic.
The break happened at the corner of Columbus and Worcester Streets around 2:30 p.m.
Crews have dug a hole the size of a modest living room in the middle of Columbus for repairs that are epected to take several hours.
Tom Baley of the Boston Water and Sewer Comission says the break caused flooding in a few basements but, that water is being pumped now and water service is restored.
Other utilities were never affected.
