Boston (AP) -- A man charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Revere police officer has been sentenced to up to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to an accessory charge.
Derek Lodie pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of being an accessory before the fact in the 2007 slaying of Officer Daniel Talbot.
Judge Patrick Brady sentenced the 19-year-old Lodie to 8 to 12 years after taking his guilty plea in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham.
Prosecutors say Talbot and other Revere officers were socializing near the high school athletic field when Lodie exchanged words with them. A friend of Lodie's then allegedly shot the officer.
Lodie's lawyer, J.W. Carney Jr., said Lodie remains "mystified" that a group of adults who were drinking and "taunting" him were police officers.
