Norwood (AP/WBZ Newsroom) -- A 57-year-old woman is dead after a small plane she was piloting crashes in Canton near Norwood Airport.
Canton police say Agnes Elizabeth Imregh was killed instantly on impact, and was the only person in the single-engine Mooney M-20-P. Her body has been recovered from the site.
Spokeswoman Lieutenant Helena Findlen says the plane hit the ground nose first and there was no fire at the crash site.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters says the plane crashed south of the airport while on approach shortly after 10 a-m. The plane took off from an airfield this morning in Pittstown, New Jersey.
The plane was registered to Imregh, a Dover resident.
Canton police say motorists on Route 95 reported seeing the plane flying low before disappearing into the woods.
Skies were rainy and overcast at the time of the crash, but it wasn't immediately clear if the weather may been a factor in the crash.
The cause remains under investigation.
