Boston, MA (Globe) -- Massachusetts General Hospital is taking the lead in addressing what's expected to be a rising tide of adults with autism.
The Boston Globe reports the hospital is expected to announce on Tuesday a 29-million dollar gift--the fourth largest in its history--that will be used to create one of the first comprehensive programs in the nation to provide specialized medical care to that growing demographic.
The paper reports many adults with autism are treated by their pediatricians into middle age, and others have medical problems that go undiagnosed because they cannot adequately communicate with their doctors.
