Boston, MA (WBZ Newsroom) -- It's not all bad news and budget cuts for Boston schools.
A half-dozen schools in Boston will be getting a much-needed facelift.
Mayor Menino has announced that six schools will be getting new outdoor learning and recreation spaces as part of the Boston School Yard Initiative (BSI), a public-private partnership.
The schools receiving outdoor classrooms include: the William E. Russell Elementary School in Dorchester, the Ellis Mendell Elementary School in Roxbury, and the James F. Condon Elementary School in South Boston; the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Elementary School in Roslindale, the Olive Hazard Perry K-8 School in South Boston, and the Mather Elementary School in Dorchester.
Of those schools, the Mozart School, the 104-year-old Hazard Perry School and the Mather Elementary School, America’s oldest elementary school, will get a full campus renovation.
