Boston (AP) -- The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Massachusetts has topped 1,000, while three more Boston schools are closing for one week because of the outbreak.
The state Department of Public Health said Tuesday that it has confirmed 70 additional cases of swine flu, bringing the state's total to 1,010.
Officials say 73 people have been hospitalized due to symptoms, but there have been no deaths in Massachusetts.
Boston School Superintendent Carol Johnson says the William E. Russell Elementary School in Dorchester, the Charles Sumner Elementary School in Roslindale and the Maurice J. Tobin School in Roxbury will close for seven days because of a high number of flu cases.
In all, 13 Boston schools have been forced to close for one-week periods because of the swine flu outbreak.
