Peabody (AP) -- A pit bull that attacked three women and a police officer at a Peabody mobile home park has been euthanized.
Jeremy Cohen, a lawyer for the dog's owner, tells The Salem News the animal was put down on May 16.
Peabody's animal control officer ordered the dog euthanized within 90 days following a hearing about two weeks after the April 9 attack.
One victim suffered up to 50 bite wounds.
Cohen says the owner intended to appeal the ruling, but changed his mind after realizing the appeals process could take up to a year. The dog, named Bronson, was struggling with life in a shelter that was costing the owner $40 per day.
Police say the decision to destroy the dog was in the best interests of the city.
