Springfield (AP) -- A Springfield man has been convicted of killing a pizza delivery driver.
Alex Morales was found guilty by a Hampden Superior Court jury Friday of first-degree murder, armed robbery and kidnapping.
The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors say the 29-year-old Morales called Domino's in December 2007 so he could steal the delivery person's car. After realizing driver Corey Lind, of Chicopee, could identify him, Morales forced Lind into the trunk of the car and drove him about 10 miles to Monson, where he stabbed him.
The 20-year-old Lind's body was found two days later.
Morales testified he stabbed Lind in self defense.
