What's @ Risk Podcast

“What’s @ Risk” airs every Saturday night from 11pm to midnight on WBZ and WBZ.com. The structure of the show revolves around commentary, discussions and interviews along with topical sound bites, comedy, and great music. The show is hosted by Mike Christian, CEO of Risk Strategies Company (RSC). Since RSC is an insurance and risk management organization, there is often an aspect of risk incorporated into most discussions. However, the overriding theme of the show is to educate the listeners and find the opportunity in risk. In today’s world, individuals and businesses are facing significant risk. From climate change to cyber attacks to the financial crisis to business/social risk, there is no shortage of topics. The show has become a forum for individuals, local businesses, authors, and experts in various fields to talk about their perspectives, ideas, and solutions.

The old Filene's flagship store on Washington Street at Downtown Crossing is the center of controversy. Mayor Tom Menino is not happy that there is still a huge hole in the ground and is threatening to revoke building permits or even seize the land through eminent domain. The mayor fears one developer is sitting on the project to pressure the city to help with financing.  The developers intially planned to build a 39-story tower with offices, retail stores, a hotel, and condominiums, but were forced to stop construction in  2008 because of financial problems.

Father on trial in daughter's death

Opening arguments are underway in the trial of Michael Reily, the Hull father charged with killing his four-year old daughter, Rebecca. Prosecutors have been granted permission by the judge to use grizzly crime scene photos of the body of Rebecca during opening statements. The little girl died on the floor of her parents bedroom from an overdose of prescription anti-psychotic drugs. Prosecutors say Reily and his wife Carolyn routinely gave the girl more drugs than necessary in order to keep her "calm". Carolyn Reily was convicted in a separate trial earlier this year.
