There are four things you cannot recover -
The stone...after the throw.

The occasion...after the loss.
The time...after it's gone.

It’s the week before Christmas and all through my house
Pandemonium and chaos has scared away the mouse.
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care
With arguing as to who has the biggest one there.
And Cassidy all hyper from sugar galore
Has been listening to stories about St Nick’s lore.
Jill has gotten Cassidy all nestled and snug in her bed
where visions of snow fairies danced in her head.
Dee returned to her wrapping of last minute things
While Doug was at the neighbor’s munching Buffalo wings.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
Cassidy sprang from her bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the windows she flew like a flash
Tore open the curtains, threw up the sash (she’s very strong for a 3 year old).
The moon on the crest of the new-fallen snow
gave a luster of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to her wondering eyes should appear
But her Aunt Jennifer with her eyes full of fear.
For there was St Nick knocking on the door
Asking directions of the neighbor next door.
We knew in a moment he was coming here
And we had no cookies ready, oh dear!
We tore open a bag of Mrs. Pepperidge’s best
And placed them on a plate ready for the test.
St Nick sat down and ate the whole bag and
Said these were better than last year’s!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
If you are not with people you love keep them in your hearts!

My 3 year old granddaughter came home from pre-school and announced she did not get the cupcake she wanted at snack time that day. It was someone‘s birthday and the mom thinking this was a good idea brought differently decorated cupcakes in. They each were given a cupcake by the birthday boy. Obviously not the one they would have chosen themselves!
So when she came home she announced to us: "You get what you get, and you don’t get upset!"
A lesson well learned in pre-school!
