NH offering limo tours to lure MA businesses

Nashua (AP)  -- New Hampshire is stepping up efforts to woo businesses away from Massachusetts with a program that includes a tour by limousine, a meal and a hotel stay.

State officials say the "Open Invitation" program will be almost completely privately funded.

Business owners willing to consider relocating will be picked up at the border in limos for all-expenses-paid tours. The perks include offers of hockey or skiing tickets.

A business recruiter will make a pitch for the state at lunch before heading out to see potential relocation sites.

Steve Boucher of New Hampshire's Division of Economic Development acknowledges that the program could strain relations with Massachusetts, but says New Hampshire has to take care of New Hampshire.
