Kennedy briefly hospitalized after mild seizure

Hyannis Port (AP)  -- Senator Edward Kennedy is back at his Cape Cod home after being briefly hospitalized with a "mild seizure" that doctors believe was caused by a change in medication.

Kennedy, who is being treated for a malignant brain tumor, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital following a 911 call from the Hyannis Port compound at 5:10 p.m.

Police said he was alert and responsive.

The senator was seen returning to his home shortly before 8 p.m.

A statement from his office said he was looking forward to watching the presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama.

Kennedy had a seizure in May and underwent surgery in June for a malignant brain tumor.

After undergoing six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, he has been steadily increasing his public activity.

On Tuesday, Kennedy received Chilean President Michelle Bachelet in his first public appearance since he gave a surprise speech in late August at the Democratic National Convention.

Kennedy's office has said the senator hopes to return to the Senate in January.
