Boston (AP) -- The state's highest court has rejected a bid for a new trial by a Lanesboro woman convicted of manipulating her son to kill her husband.
Prosecutors said Patricia Olsen convinced her son, Christopher Robinson, to bludgeon and shoot to death his stepfather, Neil Olsen, in 2005. They said she was after her husband's money.
During the 2006 trial, Olsen argued her children framed her for the murder. In her appeal, she said the trial judge should have included evidence of her son's penchant for lying, and excluded graphic photos of Neil Olsen's injuries.
The Supreme Judicial Court on Thursday said the photos were relevant to proving the charge of murder by extreme atrocity and cruelty against Olsen.
It also said the defense didn't lay the right legal foundation for the judge to consider allowing testimony about Robinson's truthfulness.
