Red Sox as Hot as Atlanta Weather

One of the stated goals of the 2009 Red Sox is to win every series they play.

That was a bit of an inconsistency earlier in the season but the Sox, of late, have been methodical in taking two out of three against any foe in their path. That is, when they aren't busy finishing off a team in three straight.
Lugo odd man out?
With Jed Lowrie nearing completion of his rehab from wrist surgery and Nick Green playing a steady shortstop, what does the future hold for Julio Lugo?

It may not be in a Red Sox uniform.
Sox Finish Tough Stretch at 9-3
The Red Sox just completed a stretch against four division leaders (Tigers, Rangers, Yankees, Phillies) and went 9-3.

Does that make them the team to beat in the American League? Plus results from our last poll question.
Wait! Don't Put Those Boston Bruins to Bed Just Yet
You thought because the NHL curtain came down on the 2008-2009 Boston Bruins you could put them to bed until the fall.

Wrong.

Bruins fans can get their Black and Gold fix while aiding a good cause.
June 1, 2009

It is the first of June and the NBA Finals begin Thursday night.

Who do you like, the Lakers or Magic?
7th Heaven
The Bruins have forced a seventh and deciding game.
Did you have any doubts?
Bring on the Whal....er, Hurricanes!
For longtime Boston Bruins fans, they will always be the Hartford Whalers.
It doesn't matter how long they have been in Raleigh. They will always be the Whalers in those dark green gaudy uniforms with Glen Wesley holding his position on the blue line.
Red Sox and Yankees: Ding! Round One
Tonight we get a sense of where the Red Sox stand against their main competitor, the New York Yankees.
That is not disrespectful of the other teams in the A.L. East. It does not lessen the effort the Red Sox will need to put forth in order to be successful against the other team in their division.
Frozen Four Face-off in Washington
The NCAA men's ice hockey championship, henceforth referred to as the Frozen Four, gets underway tonight in the nation's capital with two national semi-final games.
I guarantee a New England school will reach Saturday night's championship game.
Sox and Rays Try Again
Congrats to the North Carolina Tar Heels for NCAA Hoop Championship #5.
This one was over three minutes after the opening tip.
When Good Brackets Go Bad
What happens when good brackets go bad?
You've given your all to nurture this delicate branch on the salix bracalonica, or "Weeping Bracket Tree" and yet it falls apart right before your eyes.
March Madness Underway
Who is going to win the NCAA Men's tournament?
Good question. It seemed like no team wanted to be on top for very long during the regular season.
March 13, 2009
Happy Friday the 13th for the second straight month.
What is this obsession we humans have with wanting to continue carrying a torch for those who have jilted us? Left us high and dry on the road of life?

Monday's Sports Web Poll question was, "If you could attend only one pro sporting event locally what would it be?"
March 3, 2009
Stephon Marbury got his first taste of a Celtics practice and afterwards had an interesting comment. The newest member of Gang Green said, "Adjusting to these guys is difficult because they play at a high level. It's not a level I'm used to."
Get used to it, Stephon, get used to it.

Tuesday's sports web poll question results:

Who should be the Red Sox cleanup hitter in 2009?

Are you worried about the Bruins?
They seem to have encountered a Florida sinkhole over the weekend.  First, a 2-0 loss to the Panthers in Sunrise and then a 4-3 setback to the Lightning in Tampa. That's six losses in their last seven games.
Sportsmanship Lives! Honest.
February 20, 2009

If you thought sportsmanship was dead I am more than happy to tell you it is not.

Grab a tissue first.
In 2009, I resolve to...
Have you made your New Year’s resolutions? Many people do although most don’t make it past the first week of the year.
Diet and exercise are two biggies on the resolution list. They are on mine - for the time being. Sometimes it is best to draw inspiration from others in order to provide the impetus to follow through on said resolutions.
Underdog Patriots Continue to Persevere
The Patriots may not win the Super Bowl this year, but it is virtually impossible not to like this team.
From week one, when quarterback Tom Brady went down for the count just 7 minutes into the season, it has been a never-ending parade to the I-R list for the Pats.
