Adolescence

Adolescence is one of the most difficult and trying chapters in a person’s life. It is a perilous journey that starts in childhood and ends in adulthood.

Tremendous physical and emotional changes take place during a short period of time. As a result, adolescents can be difficult to live with.

They can be grumpy and lose their communication skills communicating with one-word sentences or not at all.

Personal hygiene varies from being non-existent to four showers a day.

One acne lesion keeps them from attending school that day.

Some very serious problems can also take place during adolescence such as suicide, accidents, depression, and drug and alcohol addiction.

A hallmark of adolescent is lack sequential thinking. That is, they don’t appreciate that performing acts A and B may result in C, which maybe a calamity.

Fortunately, most adolescents stumble through this period of their lives but it is a time fraught with potential serious roadblocks that may leave emotional and physical scars.
