Doctor's Treatment

You are not feeling well so you go to your doctor to seek some relief. Medications or some other form of therapy is prescribed and hopefully shortly you will be feeling better.

A recent study was done to determine if physicians and patients agreed if the treatment provided by the doctor was effective.

I was interested in the answer to this question because almost all of the reports that I receive from surgeons for example, state that the surgery was successful. But do patients always agree with these reports?

In the study, 63 different forms of treatments for such symptoms as joint pain and anxiety were evaluated.

Results showed that patients and doctors agreed on the effectiveness of treatment in 62 of the 63 types of therapies used.

Initially, I believed that physicians would more frequently believe that their treatments were effective compared to the patient’s view.

But despite the results of this study, as a patient, if you don’t believe your treatment was effective, discuss it with your doctor.
