President-elect Barack Obama says there can't be 'idle hands' at a time of national hardship. He wasn't idle on Martin Luther King Jr. day.  Obama visited wounded troops at a military hospital and helped paint a wall at a shelter for homeless teens.

It's President Barack Obama now. Obama took the oath of office with his hand on the Lincoln Bible, swearing to uphold the Constitution. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office. With that, history was made amid loud cheers, the sounds of "Ruffles and Flourishes," and "Hail to the Chief" -- and a cannon salute.

Kennedy feeling better after seizure


Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has been released from the hospital after suffering a seizure during an inaugural luncheon.
Kennedy's office confirmed that on Wednesday morning he left Washington Hospital Center, where he had been resting overnight for observation. A spokeswoman says he was in good spirits and doctors wanted him to get some rest.

Alleged burglar dies after being shot in the face


A Lynn man found shot in the face in the apartment of couple who told police they were victims of a home invasion has died.
Authorities say 29-year-old Jose Ramos died Sunday at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Ramos was shot on Friday night at about the time a woman called to say she had been tied up in a home invasion.

RI parking company sues MBTA over fee hike



A Rhode Island company is suing the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, claiming it was not compensated for more work caused by an increase in commuter parking fees.
AIM Parking Management, a Providence, R.I., company that operates commuter rail parking lots around Boston, said in its lawsuit that the fee hikes double the amount of bills and coins deposited at the lots. It says more
