BOSTON (AP) -- The state lottery is adding a second daily drawing of the numbers game in a move that\'s projected to generate $7 million annually for cities and towns.
Starting Monday, the midday draw will happen at 12:55 p.m., in addition to the established nightly draw at about 7 p.m.
Lottery spokesman Dan Rosenfeld said players have asked for two drawings to increase their chances to make money.
The lottery projects the extra drawing will generate $27 million in sales, including $7 million for cities and towns.
Every New England state except Rhode Island will now draw numbers more than once a day.
The move is the latest attempt by the lottery to boost sales after a down year in 2007. The state recently released a $20 ticket that offers $1 billion in prizes.
