School Hug Dispute in Maynard

Boston (WBZ Newsroom)  -- A sign of affection has triggered an angry reaction in Maynard.

Michael Marino and Brenda Brier have pulled their four-year old daughter from the Greenwood Elementary School.

They say she was wrongly disciplined for hugging another student. The couple tells the Herald their daughter was comforting a kindergarten classmate who had fallen in the playground.

She was told by the teacher to write a letter saying what she did was wrong.

Now her parents are demanding a letter. They want an apology from the school.
