Driver in multi-vehicle crash to be charged

Boston (WBZ Newsroom)  -- The truck driver accused of causing a nine-car crash in Allston Thursday is now facing charges.

Boston Police tell WBZ Newsradio 1030 Timothy Newton of Revere will face charges of leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and driving to endanger. In addition his license has been suspended.

The 38-year old Newton told police he 'blacked out' before his delivery truck careened through traffic, struck several cars, and blew up at Comm Ave. and Brighton Ave. Three people were injured.

Reports say Newton has a lengthy driving history with 61 entries including multiple suspensions, speeding, failure to stop and accidents in four different cities.
