Boston (AP/WBZ Newsroom) -- Longtime sports anchor Bob Lobel is among those who will be leaving WBZ-TV as part of a staff reduction announced this week.
The cuts also claimed veteran entertainment reporter Joyce Kulhawik and news anchor Scott Wahle.
Lobel told the Boston Herald that the station has moved to buy out the remainder of his contract. The 64-year-old Lobel said while it will be sad to depart after nearly 30 years on the air, it's also time for him to move on.
He said covering the New England Patriots' first Super Bowl victory in 2002 and the Boston Red Sox' World Series victory in 2004 were among the highlights of his career.
Kulhawik became a full-time entertainment reporter at the station in 1981.
WBZ spokeswoman Ro Dooley confirmed the departures to The Boston Globe, but would not give details.
WBZ-TV and WBZ-AM are owned by CBS.
