Boston (AP/WBZ Newsroom)  -- The opening game of the World Series takes place this evening at Fenway Park.

Josh Beckett gets the ball for the Sox against Jeff Francis.

Die-hard Red Sox fans have been camping outside Fenway Park for the past two nights in the hopes of snagging "same-day" tickets for game one of the World Series.

A limited number of tickets will go on sale two hours before game time.

Several fans have camped out in tents, slept in sleeping bags on the sidewalk along Landsdowne Street, hoping to see their beloved Red Sox play in the World Series.

Despite the threat of rain in Boston, major league officials are confidant Game 1 of the World Series between the Red Sox and Colorado Rockies will be played as scheduled.

The Red Sox will call on Hall-of-Famer Carl Yastrzemski to throw out the first pitch of the game between the Red Sox and Colorado Rockies. Yaz will be joined by other heroes of Boston's 1967 "Impossible Dream" team, including Jim Lonborg, Rico Petrocelli and manager Dick Williams.
