WBZ taps Dan Rea as new talk show host

Boston (WBZ Newsroom)  -- The night time talk audience will be listening to a new voice throughout New England as WBZ News Radio 1030 introduces a new program. "NightSide with Dan Rea" makes its official debut Monday night as the new permanent talk show on WBZ News Radio.

Vice president and General Manager of WBZ, Ted Jordan, made the announcement this morning to the WBZ staff saying that "Dan Rea is clearly the best new talk show host on Boston radio. He lives here. He works here. He’s from here. Dan’s knowledge of Boston and New England is clearly unmatched especially with his experience as a reporter. His presence at night will be also be a tremendous benefit WBZ’s news operation because everyone from the politicians to policy makers will learn that Dan will be keeping an eye on them and will hold them accountable to the WBZ audience."

This is a return home to the WBZ Radio side of the building for Dan Rea. He started as a WBZ radio talk show host in 1974 prior to joining its sister television station, WBZ-TV. Rea has been a reporter on WBZ-TV for more than thirty years.

"This is just a perfect fit for me" Rea said, "I could not be more thrilled and honored to take over the evening talk show job previously held by the legendary David Brudnoy and Paul Sullivan. I’m extremely anxious to get to know the audience and to let them get to know me. It will be a fun process talking with the listeners each night. With so much going on in the world from Iraq, to the presidential campaign to politics as usual in Massachusetts there will be not shortage subjects. My entire career has been in Boston and I know who the winners and who the losers and where to go for answers. I want the WBZ News Radio audience to know that NightSide with Dan Rea will be an answer machine on any of the issues facing us."

Dan is no stranger to the Boston Audience. He has been on Boston television for more than thirty years and has covered most every major news story that has happened during that time. He is well known for his dogged coverage and bringing to the public’s attention the Joseph Salvati case which culminated with Salvati’s release from prison and a record federal court judgment of nearly one $102 million dollars against the FBI.

NightSide with Dan Rea

will air from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, Monday thought Friday on WBZ News Radio 1030 (AM). WBZ News Radio 1030 is owned and operated by CBS Radio.
