Anthony Silva is the co-host of the station's highly rated "Afternoon News," from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Silva is also the station's New England Business Editor and produces 50 New England Business reports a week which are broadcast hourly during the WBZ Morning and Afternoon News. In addition, he produces and delivers WBZ's "MarketWrap" and "The New England Small Business Report" every weekday. For over ten years, he has hosted the station's quarterly Business Breakfasts and "It's Your Money!" Personal Finance Seminars which attract leading speakers from across the country.
While at WBZ Radio, Silva has won numerous broadcast awards including the Champion Media Award for Economic Understanding, the Ohio State Award, numerous AP awards and UPI Tom Phillips Awards for best newscast, best breaking news story, best feature and best reporter. Silva was named "The Small Business Administration Reporter of the Year" in 2003. Since joining WBZ in 1979, he has reported from national conventions and has been assigned to events in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and throughout New England. In 1994, Silva journeyed to Vietnam where he reported live from Hanoi on the first exposition of American goods and services.
Silva was also the only radio reporter aboard the USS Constitution during its historic sea trials and sail from Charlestown to Marblehead in the summer of 1997 where he reported for WBZ, WBZ-TV, CBS and Armed Forces Radio.In 1999, Silva was the only radio reporter who sailed aboard the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier from New York City, as she escorted the tall ships into Boston Harbor.
Silva is an avid cyclist and sailor. With his wife, he resides on the North Shore coast.
