Hundreds of Massachusetts Turnpike employees and former employees are traveling the Pike using so-called "non revenue" Fastlane transponders.
Turnpike Board member Mary Connoughton says the transponders are meant to be used by Pike workers who are on the job and not on their personal time.
Connoughton suggests it may be time to look at trimming back that perk.
Word of the free transponders comes as Massachusetts residents are being socked with a sales tax increase to help bail out the financially struggling Turnpike Authority.
